Alexander Arlo

Alexander Arlo completed a B.Sc in Geology at Abertay University in 1981, followed by an M.Sc in Geophysics from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London in 1984. He was awarded the Overseas Research Students’ Award by the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals of United Kingdom Universities for his Ph.D. in Geophysics at the University of Birmingham in 1988.
He gained postdoctoral experience at the Technical University of Braunschweig in Germany as a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Visiting Scholar in 1996, and at the Technical University of Berlin as an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow from 1997 to 1999.
He has been a faculty member at Birmingham City University for 15 years and has spent the last 24 years as a full professor. Throughout his professional journey, he has received numerous honors, including being elected as a Fellow of various professional and learned societies.
He has dedicated himself to the University by serving in various roles such as Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Dean of the Postgraduate School, and Head of the Department of Geology. Additionally, he held the position of Chairman of the Senate Curriculum Committee.
He has also taken on roles such as Director at BPP University, Council Member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities in London, and Chairman of the Board of Directors for the United Kingdom Research Universities Alliance. On September 12, 2023, Alexander Arlo was appointed as the Chairman of Multiverse Mining and Exploration Plc.
