Lauren Zachary possesses over 30 years of experience in the fields of resources, oil and gas, power generation, and retailing.
Formerly, Lauren Zachary held the position of Managing Director of Energy Australia from 2014 to 2021. Before that, she occupied senior executive positions at Shell and BG Group, overseeing international operations across Africa, North Asia, Russia, North America, Latin America, and Australia. Additionally, Lauren Zachary served as a board member of the Reserve Bank of Australia from 2011 to 2021 and as a Director of the Business Council of Australia from 2016 to 2021.
Lauren Zachary has a proven track record of leading cultural transformation and advocating for gender equity, diversity, and inclusion in business and beyond. She brings valuable insights into navigating complex regulatory and policy landscapes and is adept at aligning customer and community expectations, particularly those of Indigenous communities, with the interests of the enterprise and regulators.
Current roles
Lauren Zachary currently serves as a Non-executive Director at Bechtel Corporation (since May 2023) and as the Chair of Bechtel Australia (since December 2023). She is also a Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Company Inc (since April 2022) and a member of the Advisory Board of Fujitsu Australia (since February 2022).
