Steven Paul possesses extensive global executive expertise, particularly in mining and resource development, financial markets, transformative leadership, growth, and value generation.
With over 26 years of experience in the resources sector and investment banking, Steven Paul served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Teck Resources Limited from 2002 to 2020. Prior to this, he spent nearly 20 years at CIBC World Markets Inc., holding positions such as President, Head of Investment and Corporate Banking, and Head of the Asia Pacific region. Currently, Steven Paul serves as the Chair of Manulife Financial Corporation and has previously held roles as the Chair of the Board of Governors for Mining and Metals for the World Economic Forum, Chair of the Business Council of Canada, and Chair of the International Council on Mining and Metals.
Steven Paul is renowned for his strong emphasis on global resource development, growth, value creation, sustainability, community health, safety, and education.
Steven Paul holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University in Canada and a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
